Hoover High School student Sara Couvillon wanted to wear a shirt that said, “Gay? Fine By Me.” The school said that wearing it could put Couvillon’s safety at risk (even though she wore it plenty of times without any problems the year before). And even if a student did start trouble over her shirt, why not punish that student instead of denying Couvillon her right to free speech? So naturally the Southern Poverty Law Center has threatened the school with legal action. We’d be more interested if we hadn’t heard this tale before:
You’ve heard this school-bans-shirt story many times over with the following slogans: “Marriage is so Gay,” “Proud to be a Lesbian,” “I <3 Lady GayGay,” “Some Kids Are Gay… Get Over It,” as well as anti-gay shirts bearing slogans like “Be Happy, Not Gay” and “Straight Pride.” And in most cases the school usually sides with the gay shirts and isn’t sure what to do about the anti-gay ones.

Last night, Lady Gaga hosted MTV’s annual Video Music Awards Ceremony as her male alter ego Jo Calderone. The evening was marked by some amazing fashion moments, as well as some that left you saying WTF?! Amidst all the HOT MESS that accompany the VMA’s, Britney Spears received MTV’s Video Vanguard award, the network’s highest honor for an artist, Bruno Mars, Tony Bennett, and Russell Brand all paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, and Katy Perry & Adelle walked away with the most moon men - but it was BEYONCE (of course) who stole the show with the announcement of her pregnancy and an AMAZING performance that ended with the glowing performer showcasing her baby bump for all to see. *Clap Clap Bravo* for Beyonce and her husband Jay Z on their new addition and an extra special *Snap* for doing it the right way: dating, marriage, THEN the little monster! We can’t wait to see who the baby takes after more!!

(San Juan, Puerto Rico) A Puerto Rico lawmaker has resigned following reports that explicit photos of him surfaced on Grindr, an iPhone application for gays and bisexuals, the head of the U.S. territory’s Senate announced Sunday.
Sen. Roberto Arango, a Republican who represents the capital of San Juan for the island’s governing party, presented his letter of resignation after a weekend meeting, Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz said. Local news media published photos from the application showing a man’s nude upper body with a cell phone obscuring his face. Another photo showed a rear view of a nude man on his hands and knees. Another showed a fuzzy image of a face that seemed to match Arango’s.Arango has neither confirmed nor denied suggestions by local media that the photos might be of him and apparently was not asked if he had posted them. During a recent interview with WAPA TV in Puerto Rico, the senator said he has taken pictures of himself with a cell phone to document his recent weight loss.”I really don’t remember having taken those pictures of myself, but it doesn’t mean I didn’t take them,” he told the station. “I really don’t remember.” In recent days, Puerto Rican Gov. Luis Fortuno had said that if the man was indeed a legislator, he should resign. That echoed the sentiments of other lawmakers, including local House Speaker Jenniffer Gonzalez.

Same-sex marriage is allowed in the world of the video game The Elder Scrolls V. Skyrim, but the creators are not making a “huge deal out of it.”
Escapist magazine reports the game’s publicist Pete Himes released the information via Twitter. When someone remarked, “The subject seems hush hush,” Hines replied, “Not hush hush, just not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone.”
He later tweeted, “Sorry, should clarify. Not any NPC, just mean any male or female. Doesn’t matter what you’re playing.”
Skyrim will be released on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on November 11.

It must unofficially be the day that all the divas release their music videos for new singles. First, Beyoncé premieres 1+1. Then, Rihanna tweets that Cheers is out and about. Now, Leona Lewis has released the video for her controversial dance floor single Collide. I have to admit that I didn’t like the track at first, but slowly, it has grown on me.
The video is quite visually stunning. Leona and her buddies hit the beach for some fun in the sun. As her friends run into the ocean’s water, Leona watches from a towel with some other girlfriends. As the chorus drops, we see people in the water “colliding” with the waves. Get it? Leona looks beautiful too as she stands in the surf, the wind blowing her beautiful dress. Check out the video below.

It’s kind of something fans of Apple saw coming for a long time now. Yesterday afternoon, Steve Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple and effective immediately per his request, Tim Cook who is the current COO will take his place for the time being. Cook has filled Jobs’ shoes before when Steve went on an extended medical leave. In a letter to the board of directors at the Apple Community, Steve wrote the following:
“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
While he made no mention of his health, Steve has been battling a life-threatening illness for a few years now. Despite resigning as CEO, it has been confirmed by board member Art Levinson that Steve Jobs will become chairman of the board to continue to bring his unique insights, creativity and inspiration to Apple.
“As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple. I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role. I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.” – Steve
Steve Jobs still remains on the board at Walt Disney and he is also Disney’s largest shareholder. If want to learn more about Steve Jobs, you can read his biography that will be published and released on November 21st. The manuscript is currently being updated to include Jobs’ resignation. Grammy-winner Lady Gaga may just find some more little monsters in Springfield soon. Yeardley Smith, who plays Lisa Simpson, told Broadway.com that Gaga will be guest-starring on The Simpsons’ upcoming season.
“This is extraordinary!” Smith said. “I’m stunned that she has time in her schedule that she’s coming to our studio to record. She’s playing herself, and [The Simpsons’ writers] describe her as the happiest, most optimistic person in the world. She comes to Springfield to try to cheer up Lisa, but she can’t.”
Gaga’s animated alter ego previously appeared on the series as Elton John’s Golden Globes award ceremony date, but it wasn’t voiced by the “Born this Way” singer.

The release of a much-anticipated collaboration between Lady Gaga and Cher—a song titled “The Greatest Thing,” written by Gaga and producer RedOne—is just around the corner: Yesterday, in response to a follower’s query about when the song would be out, Cher tweeted simply, “SEPTEMBER.” Here’s an appropriate response: Praise divas!
“The Greatest Thing” is set to be the lead single from Cher’s 26th studio album, which has been in the works for quite some time now. Last year, the superstar told EW that she was working with Diane Warren, the legendary songwriter behind Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me” and two tunes from Burlesque, including Cher’s power ballad “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me.”
“It really won’t be ‘Believe’-ish,” she said of the album at that early stage. “It will be more…I don’t know how to say it. I can’t put a genre to it. It’s a little bit more real instruments, like guitars and stuff like that.” As recently as June, Cher tweeted that her new, still untitled album will be “WAY DANCE.” (Could that be the title? Ha.)
No official release date has been set for the album or the single yet, but you can sleep soundly knowing that a sure-to-be-delicious diva collaboration—and a diva comeback!—is coming soon. Consider it your gift for being so good this summer.
Curious about “The Greatest Thing” and what it might sound like? You’re in luck, since a demo version of the song, sung in full by only Gaga, is on the nets. It sounds sort of “Believe”-ish, if you ask me. Enjoy it here:

A Florida-based teacher named Jerry Buell has been suspended from the classroom and reassigned while the Lake County School Board investigates Facebook messages in which he said he “almost threw up” when he heard about New York’s marriage equality, which he also said was part of a “cesspool.”
Via the Orlando Sentinel:
Jerry Buell, a long-time Lake County social studies teacher, said during a recent Facebook exchange that he “almost threw up” in response to a news story about legalized same-sex marriage in New York.
On the same July 25 Facebook post he identified the same-sex marriages to being part of a “cesspool.” He went on to call the unions a sin.
The comments were made on Buell’s personal Facebook page but were visible to friends in his network. Buell argued he made the post on his own time on his personal computer.
“It wasn’t out of hatred,” he said in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel. “It was about the way I interpret things.”
And the way you interpret things, Mr. Buell, happens to be hateful.

Remember when the Sugababes debuted in the early millennium with their single Overload? Well those three babes have all since left the group and now, the third line-up of ladies has released their newest video for their single Freedom. While it doesn’t compare to their tracks of yesteryear, it definitely could find a place on my iPod.
The video is pretty sexy itself. It seems like the girls have found themselves in a hot and steamy club. While the trio belts out their vocals about freedom, the rest of the club gets sexy and feels each other up and share a kiss or two.

The University of Southern California is conducting an online video game study with the objective of preventing risky sexual behavior among men who have sex with men.
The university has a long history of using interactive technology to achieve reductions in risky sex.
Currently, they’re using a 3D game with 3D characters (as opposed to live action people like they had used in videos before) and modeling how to negotiate condom use on a date.
If you’d like to take part in the online survey and PLAY THE GAME, click this link and follow the prompts. It asks you a few questions at the beginning to assess if you are eligible for the study.

Do you remember when you were still in the closet? Do you remember the feelings of wishing everyone knew about your sexuality that way you wouldn’t have to go through the nervousness, secrets, and lies about your sexuality? Putting the pieces together of sexuality, is like putting pieces together of a puzzle. You know what the outcome is, but you don’t want to give it away at one time.
These pieces is what makes us a whole. The pieces of nervousness, unknowing, questions, and curiosity are all bits of pieces that can help us come out..to admit to our moms that no, we are not straight…
What do you think? Did you have to come out in pieces?
